I related very much to Hanabi, on how she is seeking the warmth and is afraid of being alone. It tackles on multiple issues the teens and pre-adults taste on their way to adulthood. It was very enjoyable, despite the frustrating handling of relationships of the characters themselves. “Uso no Hibana (嘘の火花)” by 96neko, was creative and catchy in its own way, but it didn’t capture my attention unlike Heikousen. The same, could or could not be said to the Opening Song. Despite not being able to understand the song when there’s no translation, the music is catchy and Sayuri’s vocals are the main point of the song. Sung by Sayuri and titled Heikousen (平行線), which translates to Parallel Lines, an ode to the story. I really, really, REALLY like the Ending Song. The panels are well distributed in the manga, and they’re even used in the anime! It was also a very faithful adaptation from the manga, as they even included their eyes, which seemingly represents the characters’ emptiness that they feel. The art is top-notch, and puts a soft feel to the hard story. It showed a realistic portrayal of today’s youth, not being able to understand love and mostly confusing it with infatuation or lust. Unlike most anime/manga series’, this particular set of characters are profusely being shown as flawed and lonely. The characters are this series’ strong point. Hanabi and Mugi formed a bond to get the warmth they’re both looking for in parallel, yet different ways. Meanwhile, as crazy as it may sound, Kanai, who is Hanabi’s childhood friend and now-homeroom teacher, enters a relationship with Akane a teacher in the same school, and Mugi’s former tutor. The 2 main characters, Hanabi and Mugi, seemingly the perfect couple, are later introduced as people who are longing for the people they like, but lives in the fear of getting rejected or unwanted by the person they love. I’m just kidding, it’s part of the story. The plot revolves around teenagers who are horny.
